TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) -

Tuscumbia police confirmed new information in an unsolved murder in the Shoals.

Authorities received autopsy results for an 88-year-old man beaten to death inside his home. Investigators said according to the report Elbert Davis' death was not an accident nor did he die from natural causes.

Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan said the autopsy report addresses blunt force trauma to Davis' head and several other signs of force used against the man. Because of where officials are at in the investigation, Chief Logan could not go into further details.

Police said friends of Davis found him beaten and left for dead inside his Tuscumbia home last August.

Logan said these results will help them narrow down several important factors in the case including a time when the beating took place. He said they won't rest until Davis' killer is behind bars.

"This is a case that someone in this department focuses on every single day. We've actually developed new leads this week and we will go out and conduct some additional interviews, especially now that we have the final results from the autopsy report," said Logan.

If you have any information on what happened the night Elbert Davis was killed, or know who is responsible, you're asked to call the Tuscumbia Police Department. You can remain anonymous and there is a reward offered for any information leading to an arrest in this case.
