HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

There's new legal action in a lawsuit over a deadly shooting at UAH.

A motion filed Thursday is an effort to dismiss all claims against former UAH Provost Vistasp Karbhari.

The families of two of the UAH shooting victims named Karbhari along with admitted killer, Amy Bishop Anderson and her husband, Jim, in a civil lawsuit.

A statement from UAH says there is no legal basis for claiming Dr. Karbhari was in any way responsible for the victims' deaths in 2010.

The statement goes on to say the tragedy should not be compounded by continuing this lawsuit against an innocent man.

Bishop Anderson is serving life in prison after pleading guilty to murder and attempted murder for the campus shooting.

Karbhari has since taken a new position as the president of the University of Texas Arlington.
