Train hits, kills person in Huntsville

A train struck and killed a pedestrian early Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. where Old Madison Pike crosses I-565. The train stretches towards Research Park.

Huntsville police received a call from a train company, that a person was on the tracks. The conductor could not stop the train in time, and the train hit the victim.

According to a friend of the victim, the man was a homeless 49-year-old. Police have yet to confirm this information.

Huntsville Police are still investigating this incident.

This is the second accident in the same spot within months. In April, another man was hit and killed by a train. Investigators ruled that death a suicide.
