To either keep or fire Carol Wicks as Director of Animal Services will be a decision made by the city council. If it comes to that, it would be put on a Decatur City Council meeting agenda for further review. So far, it is not on the agenda for their next meeting on Sep 2. If the issue comes before the city council, that's when we hope to find out why Mayor Kyle decided to put Wicks on paid administrative leave. He will not comment on it, saying he cannot talk about a pending personnel issue. LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

Flood relief is coming to part of Lee County. Flooding is a problem in the North Doublegate and Oakland Parkway area during heavy rain.

Tuesday night, county commissioners approved a new drainage system to handle the runoff and push it into a holding pond that will be expanded.

Commissioner Ed Duffy said, "The North Doublegate basin is in my district, and it floods. With this project being approved tonight, all the water from the North Doublegate basin will flow under Highway 82."

Oakland Plantation Partners, which is developing property in the area for commercial growth, will pay for most of the project. The county will pay $160,000 from SPLOST revenue.
