Paws for the Cause: Huntsville Humane Society

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Decatur Animal Shelter still has over 200 cats being housed due to the closure of a nearby shelter. The Greater Huntsville Humane Society came to the rescue and took in some of those animals.

There is a room full of those feline refugees waiting for forever homes. Because of this unique overpopulation issue, cats have special, lower adoption fees.

As for our canine friends...

  • Nugget is a five-month Catahoola Mix
  • Radar is a six-month old Chihuahua-Dachsund who loves any attention. He loves toys and playing with other dogs.
  • Spark Plug is a two-year old rat terrier. He loves being around people and is always at your feet. He is very energetic and is learning how to walk on a leash.
  • Cutie Balooie is a five-year old Chihuahua-Rat terrier, but has the energy of a puppy. He loves to be around people.
  • Lilly is a coon-walker hound. She needs room to roam: she has lots of energy, and after playing around, dips into her water bucket to cool off and play.
Nugget, Radar and Spark Plug are all neutered and have radiant dispositions.

All these animals are available at the Greater Huntsville Humane Society, which opens at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Always remember - you save a life, and perhaps change your own - when you adopt.
