Greenbrier family battles big bills after losing mother

GREENBRIER, TN (WSMV) -

Just weeks after the tragic loss of his wife, a Robertson County father is receiving help from members of the community.

Candice Goodwin, 30, and her three children were traveling back to Tennessee on June 9 from Champaign, Ill., where her husband was working.

Just moments after leaving, Goodwin died after she flipped her sport-utility vehicle on Interstate 57.

The three children were able to climb out of the mangled SUV with minor injuries.

"My wife did everything. It's easy to work and send a check home. She did everything," said the victim's husband, James Goodwin.

A community benefit is scheduled for Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Louise Martin Soccer Fields on Park Court in Greenbrier.

All proceeds will go toward helping the family with their expenses.
