MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A man on death row for the murders of four people is seeking a new trial.

A hearing for Nick Acklin took place at the Madison County Courthouse Thursday afternoon. It's an appeal filed following a death sentence.

Prosecutors said Acklin, Joey Wilson and Corey Johnson shot four people execution style at a home on University Drive in 1996. Investigators said the motive was a cell phone.

A judge sentenced Acklin and Wilson to death.

Johnson pleaded guilty and is serving a 15-year sentence. Another hearing for Acklin is set for August 29th.
