FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a Florence manufacturing plant early Wednesday morning.

All workers were accounted for after a fire started at the American Excelsior Company, a Fiberex Division plant on Parkway Drive, around 2 a.m. Wednesday. According to authorities, at least one explosion came from within the structure.

The fire rekindled at the plant Thursday just after 12 p.m. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and contained the fire to the straw piles outside of the building where the fire originally started Wednesday morning.

Reports indicated the building was not further damaged Thursday.

Officials said due to insurance purposes the company is unable to move the damaged product at this time.

Fiberex makes wood and cotton products. There's no word yet on what caused the fire. Plant officials were unavailable for comment.
