MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Residents in Morgan County said an abandoned home is not only an eyesore but a health hazard as well.

The home is located on Kirby Bridge Road in Danville and, according to neighbors, has been vacant for at least six years. Residents said the lot is overgrown, smelly and there were even maggots in a barrel outside.

A next door neighbor with kids said they've called the health department several times with no satisfaction.

"Our kids can't even swing outside, we're afraid snakes might come out of the property," said Danville resident, Kevin Patterson. "I've called the Health Department and feel like they should come make him clean it up or condemn it."

Patterson said the health department has said it'll give the owner 60 days to do something about it.
