GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say an Etowah County man has been indicted on a capital murder charge in the slaying of his 1-year-old daughter.

Stephon Lindsay is charged in the death of 20-month-old Maliyah Lindsay, who was killed in March.

The girl's body was found at the end of a dead-end road days after she was last seen by her mother.

Police have said the girl may have been killed by a dagger or sword, and relatives say the 35-year-old Lindsay believes in satanic worship.

No trial date is set, but Lindsay's lawyer has asked for a mental evaluation.

Lindsay is being held without bond in the county jail in Gadsden.

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
