TVA cuts Bellafonte budget, jobs

Hundreds of Tennessee Valley Authority workers will soon be out of a job.

The TVA is slashing the budget at the Bellafonte Nuclear Plant by almost sixty-four percent. More than 500 workers are being reassigned or laid off.

The plant was first built in the 1970s, but TVA abandoned it, half-finished. In the last several years, TVA has been working hard to get the plant up and running by the year 2020.

Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions is urging the TVA to reconsider its decision.
