MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Supreme Court has set an execution date for a death row inmate convicted of the robbery and shooting death of an 80-year-old man in Limestone County.

The court issued a ruling Wednesday ordering that 29-year-old Andrew Reid Lackey be executed by lethal injection at Holman Prison in Atmore on July 25.

Lackey was convicted of the killing of 80-year-old Charles Newman during a 2005 Halloween night robbery.

According to court records, Lackey has exhausted his direct appeals and has declined to pursue other appeals available to him. A jury convicted Lackey of capital murder and recommended that he be sentenced to death on a 12-0 vote. The trial judge upheld the recommendation.

Court records show Lackey is representing himself and has requested that an execution date be set.
