ARAB, AL (WAFF) -

For the second straight summer, the property a golf course in Arab is overgrown and looks like a wildlife refuge. The Arab city code specifies you can't have weeds taller than one foot tall on your property or you face fines and even jail time.

The property owner, Bill Pike, who now lives in North Carolina said he hasn't been contacted by city officials yet, but he'll abide by the law.

"A number of residents here have sat down and talked about buying the golf course, but the owner, Bill Pike, has fallen off his rocker when he thinks we're going to pay him what he thinks it's worth," said Arab resident, Patrick Taylor.

"One of the reasons I moved here was because I had a home on a golf course and that was my retirement dream," said Frank Graves, also a resident of Arab.
