DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

DeKalb County's district attorney announced he's switching to the Republican Party.

Mike O'Dell says he recently met with the executive committee and shared his philosophy and beliefs, and concluded that he was much more aligned with the positions of the Republican Party.

O'Dell serves as the district attorney for DeKalb and Cherokee Counties.

DeKalb County Circuit Judge Jeremy Taylor announced he's jumping to the GOP as well.

Like O'Dell, Taylor says his values, especially economically, line up with the Republican Party. He says political affiliation doesn't come into play with the types of cases he sees on a daily basis.
