Overnight storm update

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

As expected, with the loss of daytime heating, the afternoon activity has come to an end across the Valley.  We have a few dry hours before another round of storms moves in.  This will be a line of showers and thunderstorms currently in central Mississippi out ahead of a cold front.

Without much instability, the severe weather threat is low for our region.  However, as they enter into Northwest Alabama, a few strong to marginally severe storms will be possible.  The Storm Prediction Center has a "slight" risk for that area.

Here is a timeline for when you can expect scattered storms for your area.  Although severe weather is not anticipated for NE Alabama, be aware that the Monday morning commute could be wet with a few rumbles of thunder.

Because this is a linear system, we have an isolated damaging wind threat. Small hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rain are also possible.

This activity should taper off from west to east by mid Monday morning.  As the actual front moves over the Valley, a few additional spotty showers will be possible late Monday evening.
