DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A Decatur family is thankful their son is ok, after he was shot during an argument Saturday night.

The shooting happened at a home on the corner of 11th Avenue and 1st Street around 11:30 p.m.

Police are not releasing details about the investigation, but the victim's family is sharing first-hand information.

The victim, who asked to remain anonymous until the police report comes out, has been released from the hospital and is recovering from a gunshot wound.

The 23-year-old lives in the house on 11th Avenue in Decatur.

His cousin was down the street at another home when the shooting happened. He says the shooting stemmed from an argument that broke out between a group of people.

It spilled out into the street and three shots were fired. The victim was hit by a bullet in his right side. He was taken to Huntsville Hospital and released early Sunday morning.

The victim's family is thankful he is alive and they are still shaken up from the incident.

"When I heard the screaming and I saw quite a few people over here, I went and grabbed the rest of the family and we came running down the street and at that time we found him already on the ground holding his side," said the victim's cousin.

The victim's family says a man has been arrested in connection with this shooting. We are working to confirm that with police and to find out that person's name and their charges.
