BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A Tuscaloosa Sheriff's deputy was injured on Saturday while trying to stop a teen suspect considered armed and dangerous.

The teen and two other juvenile suspects stole a car from Lowes in Northport on Friday around 1:50 p.m. They wrecked the car in the 1700 Block of Romulus Road. The teen suspects attemped to take the vehicle of a citizen who had stopped to offer assistance. The suspects did not succeed in taking the car and the citizen called 911. The suspects fled on foot.

The Tuscaloosa Sheriff's department set up a perimeter and searched the area with dogs and a helicopter. Two of the teen suspects were taken into custody earlier today. The third suspect stole another car and crashed it into a deputy's vehicle in front of Home Accents in Northport.

The teen suspect shot himself after the crash. The suspect was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown. The teen suspects are suspected of committing crimes in Texas.

The suspects are all between the ages of 16 and 18. One is a Hispanic female, one is a Hispanic male, and the one who shot himself is a white male. They will likely be charged with theft of property, receiving stolen property, and bringing stolen property into Alabama. If they are charged as adults, their names will be released.

On Monday, authorities told FOX6 News that the sheriff's deputy has been released from the hospital and is going to be okay.
