COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The former officer accused of killing a deer on federal land while on duty has been found guilty.

Greg Scoggins was found guilty of hunting without a license. He was found not guilty of reckless endangerment and firing from a vehicle.

Police say Scoggins shot and killed the deer from his patrol car while on duty in December 2012 on TVA land.

Scoggins lost his job following his arrest and is appealing to get his job back. He also plans to appeal the guilty verdict in the court of criminal appeals.
