HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Employees at Huntsville Hospital are preparing for major benefits and compensation changes next month.

The new budget for the fiscal year, which starts July 1, will not include raises for the 7,000 employees who currently work for the hospital.

However, they will have to pay more for health insurance.  Premiums will increase by $40 to $68.

Hospital officials say the changes are due to flat patient volumes, an increase in supply costs, and declining reimbursements from Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
