MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Investigators say a woman, badly burned on her face, neck and upper body was burned in a meth lab explosion this weekend in Valhermoso Springs in Morgan County.

Deputies said they got a call from firefighters who found the woman.

She admitted she had been involved in the drug making process.

Authorities went into the apartment and found evidence of an explosion and drug making materials.

"Just the general fumes to your airways, it can cause permanent lasting damage, so it's just the nature of this type drug and the means they go through to produce it, and they're just willing to take that chance," said Mike Corely with Morgan County Sheriff's Department.

No charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
