LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Moulton man faces charges, accused of starting wildfires.

Investigators with the Alabama Forestry Commission arrested 21-year-old James Luke Ellis.

He was charged with wildland arson and is being held in the Lawrence County Jail.

Investigators said he's accused of setting eight wildfires on May 16 in the Mount Hope area. One was set near a house; the others were started on U.S. forest service's lands.

Forestry officials said wildland arson is a problem. They say 31 percent of all wildfires are intentionally set.
