Boaz Police arrested an Albertville woman on child endangerment charges after her grandchild was found locked in a car at Walmart.

Officers were called to the Walmart parking lot to check on the child who was left alone and appeared to be in distress.

They questioned the child's grandmother, 45-year-old Angela Parrish Coffey, about leaving the child in the car with the windows rolled up and the engine turned off.

Investigators took the child and reported the child's clothing was soaked in sweat.

Coffey was placed under arrest for reckless endangerment and when officers searched the vehicle, they found bottles with controlled medications inside. She was also charged with illegal possession of prescription drugs.

DHR was called and the child was turned over to the great-grand mother.
