BIBB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The Alabama Department of Corrections is investigating an inmate on inmate homicide that happened over the weekend at Bibb County Correctional Facility.
Steven Edward Geiman died of stab wounds received during a fight with another inmate. He was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. No weapon has been recovered.
Geiman was serving a 15-year sentence for domestic violence and sodomy out of Houtson County.
Another inmate, William D Gilchrist is in custody as a suspect. He's serving a 20-year sentence for assault, possession, and theft out of Jefferson County.
The circumstances surrounding Geiman's death are under investigation. An autopsy will be performed to determine the actual cause of death.
Bibb County Correctional Facility is a medium security facility housing about 1,948 inmates. As of Tuesday, the facility remains on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
