Tornado survivor collects gift cards for OK victims

LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A woman who survived a tornado in Limestone County is working to help people in Oklahoma by asking people for gift cards.

On April 27th, 2011, Jennifer Adair huddled in a closet while an EF-5 twister leveled her home in the Capshaw area.

This Saturday, she is collecting gift cards at the Athens Police Department to send to Oklahoma storm victims.

"I sat here in the living room with my husband crying Monday night watching the coverage, especially with the children that passed away. Gift cards are one of the things that we personally experienced. People gave them to us to help us out," Adair said.

People who want to donate gift cards can do so at the police department Saturday from 10 a.m until 2 p.m.

The donations will be turned over to Toomers for Tuscaloosa, which will distribute them to tornado victims. The group was formed to help victims after the April 27th Tornado outbreak.
