A Shoals child had a big surprise at school.
Her father, Army Specialist Daniel McCullough, came home early from Afghanistan.
Teachers at Brooks Elementary held a magic show for one of the kindergarten classes.
When 6-year-old Amaya McCullough volunteered for a trick, she had no idea who would be standing there at the end.
"Daddy! I missed you," she said.
"I missed you too," said McCullough.
Amaya has her daddy back after a yearlong deployment to Afghanistan.
Over the last 12 months, she clung tightly to a doll with his picture.
"I would never lose it," said Amaya. I" always keep it with me."
Emotions took the place of words Wednesday afternoon for one brave soldier and his family.
McCullough is stationed with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell.
