HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Madison County Sheriff's Deputy is under fire again and this time, he's being sued.

Back on May 15 2011, Deputy Dennis Daversa was accused of kicking in an apartment door at Huntsville Place Apartments, threatening two women and holding them against their will.

Now they are suing him, the apartment complex, and its management.

At the time, Daversa was charged with trespassing and burglary.

The lawsuit claims Daversa, as a side job, acted as security for Huntsville Place Apartments while he lived there.

The victims claim that night in May, he stormed into their apartment and put them in handcuffs.

What's not clear in the lawsuit is why Daversa entered the apartment in the first place.

The victims claim he told them to hand over their identifications, threatened to assault them and put them in handcuffs. They also claim he smelled of alcohol at the time.

Huntsville Place Apartments, which is geared toward student living, is also named in the suit and its management because the victims claim they were negligent in hiring Daversa.

They are seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

Daversa's 2011 burglary charge was later dropped, and he pleaded guilty to trespassing.

He was placed on administrative leave after his arrest and an internal investigation into the incident was conducted.

The Chief Deputy with the Madison County Sheriff's Department said this particular employee was afforded due process, action was taken internally, and he met certain requirements to stay on the force so the matter is considered closed.
