LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A Gardendale man was arrested in the Moulton area after an investigation into a suspicious pseudo ephedrine purchase.
Agents said they discovered that James Edward Jones Jr. bought more than 80 boxes of pseudo ephedrine in the past two years and that he recently purchased six boxes in the Moulton area.
Jones told investigators he had a severe sinus problem. A family member refuted Jones' claims and gave written consent to search the home. During that search, sheriff's investigators found four old meth labs in the master bedroom, along with meth-making items.
After agents discovered the labs, they said Jones claimed ownership of them.
Three children living in the home, and at least two of the children were at home while Jones was making meth, according to investigators.
Sheriff Gene Mitchell said Jones had also been selling boxes of pseudo to other meth manufacturers for $50 to $75 a box.
Jones was booked into the county jail on one count of unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, one count of felony possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of chemical endangerment of a child.
