Inmate serving life for manslaughter killed in prison

BESSEMER, AL (WAFF) - The Alabama Department of Corrections is investigating the death of an inmate.

Anthony Jones died of stab wounds during an altercation with another inmate at Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer Sunday night.

Officials believe they have recovered the knife used in the killing.

Jones was serving a life sentence for manslaughter out of Jefferson County.

Investigators said another inmate, Albert James Evans is a suspect in the homicide. He's serving a life sentence for attempted murder also out of Jefferson County.

Jones' body was sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
