Discovery Middle School students cuts off hair for charity

MADISON, AL (WAFF) - When 13-year-old Laura Weber learned of kids who were suffering from diseases and unable to grow hair, she wanted to do something about it.

"Well, I cut my hair for locks for love. It used to be down to about down to my lower back," she said.

Now with a shoulder length style, she said it wasn't a hard decision make.

"It does make me feel good to help people," she said.

The 7th grader attends Discovery Middle School in Madison and besides having a generous heart, she's a good student.

"Well what I like about learning is you get to learn new things, so you get to just expand your mind," Laura explained.

Laura is a straight A student, who has already taken the ACT's and scored high enough to be recognized by Duke TIPS. She plays the clarinet for her school band, is a girl scout, and loves fantasy books.

For having a good heart and being a top student, Laura Weber is our Star Student of the week.
