MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -

Law enforcement officers from across Colbert, Franklin, and Lauderdale counties gathered for the annual Blue Light Memorial.

More than 30 patrol cars took part in the parade of lights before gathering with family and friends inside for the service.

Officers placed blue flowers on a wreath in honor of each fallen officer.

"It gives us a chance to honor our comrades that paid the ultimate sacrifice and were killed in the line of duty. It also gives us a chance to let their families and their loved ones know that we're not going to forget them," said Richard Richey with the Fraternal Order of Police.

Thirty-one officers have died in the line of duty in the Shoals and Franklin County.
