Donations help fund search and rescue team

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

If you or someone you love goes missing, a Madison County search and rescue team is ready to help.

Search And Rescue TECHnicians, or SARTEC, is a group of volunteer rescuers and their dogs. They train for hours each week so they're ready when the call for a missing person comes in. The team has traveled all over the state for searches. They've performed a couple out of state too. Their most recent search was for Deonta Griffin. He allegedly jumped off a bridge in Guntersville and into the Tennessee River while running for police.

About 30 dogs and their owners are a part of the group. Rinda Hall, a member of SARTEC, says they always train like it's a real situation, " We put people out, the trainers out, people out in an area they know and the handler of that dog does not know where that subject is and we teach them to search."

SARTEC runs completely on donations. You can help out by going to their dog wash Saturday, May 18th, from 10am-4pm. It's at the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville.

    Three adult males and one juvenile were arrested in Limestone County on Thursday after a four-hour manhunt and charged with multiple counts stemming from a string of vehicle thefts.Three adult males and one juvenile were arrested in Limestone County on Thursday after a four-hour manhunt and charged with multiple counts stemming from a string of vehicle thefts.

    A ground search ensued that lasted about four hours and covered approximately six miles, ending a few hundred yards east of Hays Mill Road where the suspects were caught in a hunting stand/shoot house.
