2 arrested in drug trafficking operation

MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A major drug bust in New Hope put two of North Alabama's biggest "spice" dealers behind bars, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies arrested Marty Raines and Jennifer Bonds on drug trafficking charges, after finding 900 packs synthetic marijuana known as "spice," at a home and two storage facilities.

Agents seized all 12 pounds of the drug which amounts to a $30,000 street value. Two vehicles and $5,000 in cash were also seized.

Agents conducted surveillance of those locations and then served several search warrants based on tips from the public to make the bust.

Investigators believe Raines and Bonds were selling the "spice" on the street and to other dealers all over Madison County and in surrounding counties.

Raines and Bonds remain behind bars in the Madison County jail on a $1.5 million bond each. They were both charged with trafficking analogs.
