GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A man charged with attempted murder for assaulting a Guntersville man on a city street pleaded guilty on Wednesday, but his legal troubles are not over.

Marquis Dontae Bell was originally charged with attempted murder but worked out a deal with prosecutors. He pleaded guilty instead to second degree assault.   Bell still faces charges in Jefferson County on attempted murder charges for shooting someone in the face.

Bell received a 10 year sentence by the judge then suspended much of the sentence ordering him to serve 20 months.

Bell was charged in April 2011 with attempted murder.

Police say he confronted and assaulted Colton Hall on Anderson Street in Guntersville. Hall was struck with a baseball bat and Bell then fired a weapon at Hall but did not strike him.

Prosecutors believe it was caused by a simmering dispute between the two men.

Bell now has an arraignment hearing on his attempted murder charge in Jefferson County set for June 17.
