FRANKLIN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Russellville Police need help finding the thieves who stole more than $40,000 worth of farm and garden equipment in Franklin County.

Officers said they have identified the people behind the theft ring.

Police have been tracking the crimes for the last several months.

Investigators said the thieves targeted a local business and home starting back in January.

Police are looking for 44-year-old Harry Wayne Roberts and 34-year-old Stacy Elaine Murray. They are wanted on two counts of receiving stolen property.

Investigators said the duo stole more than $22,000 worth of equipment from a business on Highway 43 and nearly $20,000 worth of equipment from a home on LaGrange Road.

Police said they took everything from ATVs, tractors, trailers, mowing attachments, and more.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said they want to get these crooks off the street before they strike again.

"In these particular thefts, the keys were not in the vehicles or in the equipment, so the persons responsible for taking it obviously know what they're doing," he said. "So these types of items like farm tractors and stuff are going to be kept on a farm. They're not going to be locked up in a garage, so about the only advice we can give is keep a lookout on it."

Police said the duo is also connected to similar crimes in Colbert County.
