MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Marshall County deputies arrested a teenager accused of vandalizing a cemetery.

The vandal was caught on video causing damage at a cemetery near the Sweet Home Baptist Church in Union Grove.

The video captured a white Dodge quad cab pickup truck with dual wheels and a man walking around Sweet Home Baptist Church in Union Grove.

Sheriff's deputies said the man knocked over and broke tombstones and knocked flower pots off graves, and items were taken from the grave sites.

Surveillance video showed he was at the church for about three hours Wednesday night.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department followed leads to a home in Morgan County, where the truck was parked. Inside the cargo area of the truck were the items that were missing from the cemetery.

Authorities said the alleged vandal is 17 years old. He was arrested and taken to a juvenile holding facility and was charged with desecration of graves, theft of property, and criminal mischief.

The investigation is ongoing, and no motive is known at this time.
