Texas A&M pitching ace Daniel Mengdan held No. 3 LSU to just five hits and one run over eight innings as the Aggies rallied for two runs in the home half of the seventh to win a rain-delayed Thursday night game that went into Friday morning, 2-1.
LSU (43-7, 19-6 SEC) got a run-scoring double from freshman Alex Bregman, who was 2-for-4 on the night, to give Cody Glenn a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth. But Glenn, who started with six scoreless innings, got into trouble in the seventh just as the clock was striking midnight.
Brandon Wood led off with a single and back-to-back errors by Bregman and Christian Ibarra at short and third produced one Aggies run and led to the second.
Texas A&M (27-22, 13-12) will try to win the series against unbeaten Aaron Nola (9-0) Friday night.
Thursday night's game was scheduled to start at 8:00pm for an ESPNU telecast, but did not begin until 9:49 because of rain, and was also delayed several times during the first three innings.
