Telecommunications giant AT&T announced Wednesday its plans to conduct a statewide tour of Alabama to highlight how an investment of nearly $1.4 billion into its wireless and wireline networks will impact rural and urban areas of the state.

The investment will allow AT&T to expand 4G LTE mobile internet coverage, as well as enhance its overall network. The company says LTE has been added at more than 350 sites around the state in 2013.

AT&T also announced that with more than 350 jobs available, it is looking to hire people from all areas of the state. Those seeking to apply can do so at http://att.jobs

"While we are proud of our past investmetn, I am even more excited about our plans moving forward," said President of AT&T Alabama, Fred McCallum. "With our recently announced Project VIP, Alabama consumers stand to benefit from expanded wireless and wireline broadband," he added.

The Project VIP (Velocity IP) is a three-year investment plan to expand the company's network. The company ultimately plans to expand 4G LTE coverage to more than 300 million by 2014 and to expand the AT&T wired IP broadband network to cover 75 percent of its customers by 2015.
