Posted: Updated:
ROGERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Rogersville authorities are searching for the person who called in bomb threats to the 911 call center Tuesday night.

About 2,000 people were evacuated from public areas after the caller said there were bombs at local events.

The call lasted about 10 seconds and the caller said, "There are bombs all over downtown Rogersville right now. For this event. Get people there now."

Investigators said the call was made from a TracFone that was purchased at either a Walmart or Dollar General. They said the person who called in the bomb threats has previously called in credible tips about previous incidents such as wrecks and fires.

Rogersville Police are trying to track the origin of the phone call. They believe the caller is familiar with the community.

Anyone with information should call Rogersville Police.
