Naturalization Ceremony

Thirty-two immigrants took the oath to become Americans on Tuesday. History was made inside the Federal Courthouse in downtown Montgomery and it all unfolded inside a courtroom on the second floor.

U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson welcomed the new batch of Americans, giving them a sense of what it means to be an American.

Thirty-two immigrants representing 16 countries. Holding on to a new dream, ready to become an U.S. Citizen  Jose Jimenez was one of those immigrants. He was born in Spain but has lived in Montgomery for the past 7 years. Jimenez says he teaches Spanish at Maxwell. Today, he is being taught what it means to be free, and what it means to support his new country.

We're told the gathering of 32 newly minted Americans is the largest gathering in recent history in the Middle District.
