CARROLLTON, Ga. – West Georgia broke up a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and held on to eliminate the University of North Alabama from the Gulf South Conference Baseball Tournament, 2-0.
A pitcher's duel between UNA's Cade Medley and West Georgia's Seth McClure and Max Aeschillmann was scoreless with two outs and no one on base in the bottom of the eighth. Blake McLemore drew a two-out walk and T.J. Eifert followed with an RBI-single for the game's first run. Evan Hester then singled in Eifert to make it 2-0.
UNA managed just three hits in the game, with two of those coming in the third inning when the Lions left the bases loaded.
Medley (6-2) pitched eight innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits. He walked one and struckout two.
UNA finishes its season at 28-21-1.
