TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
Tyler firefighters continue to monitor for hot spots at the scene of a fire that destroyed a couple's home Monday night.

The fire broke out around 8 p.m. in the 1000 block of Britton Avenue, not far from downtown Tyler.

At one point, firefighters said flames and smoke were as high as 150 feet in the air.

Investigators say one of the homeowners was outside doing yard work, and the other was inside when the fire broke out. They were able to get away from the fire unharmed.

The home is a total loss. Firefighters say they do not have an exact cause at this time, but they do not suspect foul play.
