FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

A man from Lauderdale County is facing several serious charges including domestic violence, assault, burglary and attempted rape.

According to investigators, 26-year-old Stephen Chase Stanfield forced his way inside a woman's home late Friday night on West Cleveland Street. He attacked the woman inside, and threw a vacuum cleaner at her, then attempted to rape her.

Investigators also say that another man inside the house was also attacked. They say he escaped and called police and that Stanfield ran from the home when he saw police arrive. The victim was checked out at a nearby hospital, treated and released.

Stanfield was arrested by Lauderdale County deputies on Saturday. Investigators said he knew the victim, and the attack was not random.
