HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

IBM held its annual conference in Huntsville Tuesday morning.

IBM has held its annual stockholders meeting in places like Miami or Atlanta, but on Tuesday they held it in Huntsville and for a very good reason.

"We have a very rich history with Huntsville," said IBM Director of Corporate Communications, Doug Shelton.

A rich history that dates back decades and one that was strengthened by the Saturn V mission.

"The contribution that IBM has made to the space program was right here, so many of our IBMers enjoy the fact that we're here," said Shelton.

With about 100 people at the meeting, a couple came from out of town, bringing a short spurt of spending with them.

"As soon as we announce the location of the shareholder meeting, we typically get messages from business leaders and business owners within the city inviting us to use their services, so we do know it makes a difference to the local economy," Shelton said.

IBM said they don't know where they will hold their shareholders meeting next year, but they have held it in the same city twice, so Huntsville could see IBM once again.
