Will winter ever go away, or will spring ever stay?

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

A very winter-like cold front is plowing through the northern plains today and will move very quickly to the south over the next few days, arriving in East Texas on Thursday morning. There will be a significant change in temperatures during the day and chances for showers and thundershowers will exist throughout the day as well.

Temperatures will start off in the 60s across East Texas. As the front moves through, which is when your high temperature will occur, temperatures will drop quickly into the 50s and stay there through the rest of the day...even a few upper 40s possible along Interstate 30.

Make sure you are ready for this temperature change. Make sure the kids have at least a light jacket on Thursday morning when they head off to school, and you to work, as with the winds, it will feel much, much cooler.

Lows on Friday and Saturday mornings will be in the lower 40s, for sure, with a few dipping into the upper 30s. High temperatures will be in the lower 60s on Friday, recovering into the lower 70s on Saturday and then the middle 70s by Sunday afternoon.

Winds behind this front will howl out of the Northwest at 20-30 mph with gusts nearing 40 mph at times. The brisk NW winds will continue on Friday as well, before settling down on Saturday and Sunday.

There is a very low risk for severe weather on Thursday, but that does not mean that a few heavier thundershowers will not occur then. Rainfall totals expected to be less than 1.00" on Thursday.
