Neighbors complain over problems with former club

The club was formerly known as The Plush Horse. The club was formerly known as The Plush Horse.

Neighbors living right next to a Huntsville club are fed up.

People who live near the club formerly known as The Plush Horse on Golf Road said more than 20 shots were fired over the weekend.

Neighbors said problems have gotten worse now that it's being leased every weekend. Brazelton Properties has the venue up for sale but leases it out for private parties.

A college party was held Saturday night and around 2 a.m. in the parking lot.

"It's been nothing but a problem since it's been up for lease," said Linda Ferguson who has lived next to the club for the past 11 years.

Neighbors said the problem got even worse this past weekend when shots were fired outside the club.

"I ended up calling 911 and while on the phone there ended up being 20 or 30 more gunfire," said Dominik Christiansen.

Andre Davis lives across the street from the club and was in his apartment when he heard the same thing.

"Everybody hit the ground. That was the first time I had ever heard anything like that," said Davis.

Beer bottles, cups, and trash still litter the parking lot.

Ferguson found shell casings on the property after the party.

The party promoter did not have security and tried calling a non-emergency police number around 1 a.m. for an officer to patrol the area.

Huntsville Police recommends anyone holding a large event to hire an off-duty police officer that can be on the site to respond in real time.

Police responded as soon they received a call.

The promoter acknowledges that he will hire an officer the next party he hosts.
