HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

An Arizona company that produces technology to shoot enemy rockets down expands its operations in the Tennessee Valley.

The company is called Orbital Sciences and is a very well known name in the missile defense field.

In Huntsville, they produce short, medium, and long range targets, but they also produce the interceptor that shoots those targets down. It's the same technology that could shoot down a North Korean missile.

Orbital already has one facility on Redstone Arsenal, but they're expanding their operations to Research Park and officials said they are not ruling out moving more of their projects to the Tennessee Valley in the future.

"We've supported both the target side and the interceptor side for over 25 years," said Orbital's Mark Ogren. "Sometimes we play the bad guy, and sometimes we support the missile interceptors."

Orbital's new building could help them with any future expansion as a portion of it is still not filled.
