Star Student has dreams of playing in the WNBA

MADISON, AL (WAFF) - Erin Chambliss, 12, works hard in the classroom so she can play hard on the playing field.

"I play in NASA volleyball I play on the Power Team 121's and we travel around and go to like Birmingham and Montgomery and we'll be going to Orlando for nationals in June," said Erin.

She's a 6th grader at West Madison Elementary School where she's a top student. You'll always find her paying close attention in class, and while she knows education is key to one day going to college and getting a good job, there's something else that drives her to get good grades.

"It motivates me to get good grades to be able to play sports," she said.

Besides volleyball, softball is another sport she competes in.

"I love catching and just getting dirty and just having fun," she explained.

But her dream is to play basketball for the University of Alabama and one day play for the WNBA. Erin says competition is good for kids on and off the field.

"Just try your best when your doing a sport and do all you can and work as hard as you can. The same with school work, work as hard as you can get good grades," said Erin.
