New storm shelter approved for Harvest

HARVEST, AL (WAFF) -

Neighbors in Harvest in Madison County have been approved for a community storm shelter.

The safe room will hold 480 people and will be built at Cross Winds United Methodist Church on Wall Triana Highway. The site is a half mile from Yarbrough and Stovall Roads that were devastated in the April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak.

FEMA will pay 75-percent of the cost. Madison County's portion will be $238,000.

No word yet on when the shelter will be built.
