TONEY, AL (WAFF) -

Officials at a park in Toney want to find whoever is responsible for stealing thousands of dollars worth of lawn equipment and tools.

After weeks with no new information, officials at Blue Water Springs Park took to social media to see if anyone there could help.

Park VP, Stephen Coons said nearly $5,000 worth of tools are gone.  The park is missing two weed eaters, two back pack blowers, tow carts, rakes and other ball park equipment.

The items are used to keep the ball park in order when the season starts.  Without them, Coons said he and his crew use their personal tools to handle the yard work.

This isn't the first time the park has been burglarized and plans are in place to keep it from happening again.

"We've got the main building under surveillance now," he said.  "The entry way is under surveillance and we're in the process of putting surveillance around the rest of the park. It's just in obscure places to see where people come in and out at."

Coons suspects teenagers with too much free time are responsible for the crime.  He said when they steal from the park, they are stealing from everyone in the community.
