LAPLACE, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC) and the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office report the arrest of a LaPlace, LA bar owner for operating without a valid state permit. His permit was suspended because he didn't pay the fines associated with other ATC violations. The bar was also cited for failure to maintain a clean and sanitary premise for the public.

Kenny Gray, owner of Kenny's Rhythm & Blues Club in LaPlace, was arrested late Saturday evening.

"This business owner has shown a total disregard for state law by continuing to sell alcoholic beverages after receiving several warnings not to do so," stated ATC Commissioner Troy Hebert in a news release Wednesday morning.

Gray was charged with R.S. 26: 75/275 Sale of Alcohol without a Valid Permit (high/low content) and booked in the St. John Parish Correctional Facility.

The business also received an administrative violation for failing to maintain a clean and sanitary premise for the public.

The ATC released a photo of a vending machine in Kenny's Rhythm & Blues Club showing a mouse sitting on top of a bag of peanuts.

LaPlace, LA is about 55 miles from Baton Rouge, LA.
